Choose a website template
A template is the design of your resume website: its layout, colours, font, pictures and menu. Your content stays the same whichever template you pick, so you can change the design at any time without retyping anything. You manage it in the Portfolio tool of the profile editor.
The design of your PDF resume is separate. It is called a Folio; see Folios.
Open the Portfolio tool
Section titled “Open the Portfolio tool”- Open the dashboard and open the profile you want to change.
- In the editor sidebar, select Portfolio.
Under the title you see Using and the name of the template that is active. The tool has up to five tabs:
- Theme — the colours. See Colours and media.
- Font — shown when the template offers more than one font.
- Media — shown when the template has pictures or videos you can change.
- Menu — the links in your site’s navigation.
- Change Design — switch to another template.
Switch to another template
Section titled “Switch to another template”- In Portfolio, select Change Design.
- Under Start from a template, look through the gallery. Each card shows a preview image, a short description, and a Premium badge where it applies.
- Select Use this template. The template is added to your profile and becomes the active one.
Every template you have used is kept under Your templates with its own colours, font, media and menu. To go back to one, select Switch on its card. The active template is marked Active and its button reads Current.
To delete a template you no longer want, select Remove on its card and confirm. This cannot be undone: its colours, font and media are removed with it. You cannot remove the active template; switch to another one first.
Preview a template
Section titled “Preview a template”The gallery shows one preview image per template. There is no draft preview with your own content: when you select Use this template or Switch, your live site changes. To see the result, select Visit Live at the top of the editor. If you do not like it, switch back under Your templates; your earlier settings are still there.
Free and premium templates
Section titled “Free and premium templates”Free templates are available on every plan. A template with the Premium badge needs a plan that includes premium templates. If your plan does not, you are asked to upgrade when you select it. The same check runs when you switch back to a premium template you added earlier.
See pricing for which plans include premium templates, and Plans, limits and add-ons for how upgrades work.
Change the font
Section titled “Change the font”- In Portfolio, select Font.
- Each card shows the font on your name. Pick one.
- Select Save.
A premium font needs a plan that includes premium fonts.
Set the site menu
Section titled “Set the site menu”- In Portfolio, select Menu.
- Under Sections, add the sections you want to link to. The menu holds up to 5.
- Under Menu, drag the handle to put them in order.
- Select Save.
Good to know:
- Each template keeps its own menu. Switching back to a template brings back the menu you saved for it.
- A hidden or empty section can stay in the menu. It shows once the section is on your page.
- Contact is added at the end while your contact form is on, and does not count towards the 5.
- Renaming a section renames its menu link.
If something goes wrong
Section titled “If something goes wrong”- The Font or Media tab is missing. The active template has only one font, or no media you can change.
- “Your menu is full.” Remove a section from the menu before adding another.
- The site still shows the old design. Wait a minute and reload. Check that the profile is set to Live; a hidden profile is not shown at all.
- You are asked to upgrade. The template or font you picked is premium and your plan does not include it.
